In and around San Jose, Costa Rica

Well, we finally made it. We are officially in San Jose, and it is not at all what we thought it would be like. It´s alot more overwhelming than we thought and we really have to watch our backs alot more. For starters, 2 minutes off the plane, Jack´s backpack was almost stolen. This guy walked up to our cart and just picked it up. Our only saving grace was our shuttle driver who grabbed it, and pushed the guy away. Not at all the start we were hoping for.
The drive to the hostel was pretty interesting, we definitley drove thought the worst part of San Jose. If you guys think I live in the ghetto, you haven´t seen nothing yet. Our hostel, fortunately wasn´t located in the worst area, but probably the second worst. Bars guarding the hostel can be pretty intimidating when you first drive up. But the hostel itself was amazing. $9 dollars US a night and it was so great. We had a pool and a bar and restaurant on the roof.

One of our first purchases of the day was an umbrella. We are at the end of the rainy season, and it just starts to pour with no warning. Everyone in San Jose carries an umbrella, and when it´s raining out the streets are full of them. They even match what they are wearing.
Had our first night out! We met up with a couple of guys from the states and had so much fun. Ended up going dancing to two clubs, tried to unsuccessfully salsa dance, and saw some club dancers. Quite the show. Never knew guys could shake their hips like that. Mom, if you are reading this, don´t worry, they had their clothes on.
