Australia is not very densly populated but the most highly urbanised country. With exception of Canberra, major cities in Australia are mostly coastal and their combined population represented almost 70 percent of national total.

It is quite easy to travel in Australia and I only booked the hotel/ motel when I arrived in the cities of Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. This was my first backpack trip travelling on my own.
