London / Harpenden

In and around Harpenden, United Kingdom

Drew and I parted ways shortly after this photo taken in the London Gatwick South Terminal. Drew ventured into Switzerland and Italy and myself to the United Kingdom.

I have offically arrived in the United Kingdom, and thus far have had a blast. However, getting to my final destination wasn't as fun. After 2.5 hours of delays in the MSP airport, Drew and I parted our ways with Minnesota and heading via airplane to London Gatwick.

Between the 2 of us, we may have luckily averaged 3 hours asleep apiece. Upon our arrival in London, Drew and I split ways. Drew heading to Geneva, Switzerland, and myself, to Harpenden, England. Hence, Drew had it easy with a simple flight, were I instead, had to hit a couple connections on trains headed northbound. My ride via car arrived at Gatwick on time, but since the plane was delayed, he had to head back because of prior obligations - thus, my train adventure.

In Harpenden, England you must be midful of "Elderly People." Are you suppose to watch out for ALL elderly people in Harpenden, or just those that suffer from osteoprosis?

May I remind you all, that I was not only carrying all of my luggage, but half of Drew's luggage as well. Needless to say, carrying this much extra weight during rush hour on the London tube is NOT an easy task! I had to take a train to Victoria Station (the 2nd busiest stop in London), then go down 5 flights of stairs to the Tube Underground, then take 3 transfers, then, inevitably, I had to carry the two large bags up an equal amount of stairs getting out of the tube (it literally took me 20 minutes to get up the stairs, and I broke out in the worst sweat I've had outside of marathon running).

One more train and I was there - in Harpenden. I slept. Then slept a little more. I am currently staying at Alan's house, and will be traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland in another day. And I hope to settle in soon thereafter.

I spent last night clubbin' in London until 4am! One lesson that I learnt in previous trips to London: Don't buy drinks at clubs in London. They are two expensive and take too long to get. Take notes here. To boot, after the club, we missed a

train then and hung out at King's Cross till' practically daybreak. It was amazing walking the London streets at night.! Yeah - so things are going good. I'm moving up to Edinburgh tomorrow (Sunday) and looking forward to getting settled.

Wish me luck  :) -Nate
