The briefest blog ever...making it to Italy
In and around Italy
I've written this blog countless times...and each time my computer has crashed. So, this one will be brief, and you can ask me about it some other time. I apologize for how little detail it will have, as it will absolutely not do justice to our trip since Barcelona.
From Barcelona we caught a train to get to Italy. Our starting point was to be Aosta, the italian side of the Apls. However, to get there, we had to go through Nice (which was a beautiful town. It's everything you would imagine the "Riviera" to be) and then hop of 4 different trains, which would take the entire day. After being on the train the night before (and after Trzebinia...yes, we still think about that) it didn't sound too appealing. So, at the VERY LAST MINUTE we hopped on a different train to Milan...and we got off at the town of Genoa. It was awesome (to say the least). Then we went to Monterosso, where the only sandy beach in Italy is, spend the day there swimming in the sea (where i also got sick), walking around the town and such with a fellow Canadian we met in Genoa. It was idealistic Italy. Then we caught a train to Pisa. The tower is absolutely CRAZY! Pictures will come later. From Pisa we arrived in the one and only ROME. There simply are no words for it. We went to the Vatican City, the museums and such. The colosseum blew our minds. Pictures really don't do it justice. From Rome, we headed to Naples (which is a bit of a sketchy place, as the Italian Mafia family is based out of this town) and it was refreshing to see a "dirtier, grungier, sketchier" side of Italy. It's not all sun, beaches, and wine! From Naples, we went to Pompeii and walked through the ruined site. I was amazed to see how much of the site was open for the public to walk through. It was us walking into the past, and it was nothing short of phenominal. From there, we took a train to Sorrento, and then a bus along the Amalfi Coast. We were to catch a farry to Sicily yesterday evening, but due to the WICKED thunder and lightning storm along the coast, the bus ride took a lot longer than expected, and we missed our ride to Sicily. However, we got to spend the night in Amalfi (i'll just show you pictures, because i don't know how to decribe this incredible place). Today we plan to head back to Naples, catch our farry to Sicily and spend the day there. From there, it's Greece.
Again, my apologies for this shitty blog, but i actually want to send this one, rather than have it crash on me...AGAIN. I'll post picture when i can, but i'm out of time at the moment. Talk to you in Greece!
