Australia - G'Day

In and around Australia

Wow....what a country! I remember my first thought when I arrived here in mid July 2005. And my feelings have still not changed till today. This place is truly amazing and offers such a diverse natural variety combined with charming locals and cosmopolitan cities like Melbourne and Sydney.

I came to Melbourne for a year from July 2005 - July 2006 as part of an exchange program from my university back home in Germany. The Victoria University of Technology in Melbourne should become my home for the duration of my stay. Since it was a bunch of us coming over from the same university in Bad Honnef, four of us shared a house in beautiful Toorak, which is highly regarded as being one of Melbourne's nicest inner city suburbs.

My major goal for the year was to combine my studies with as much travelling around Australia as possible. Sydney, Perth, Cairns, Uluru and the Whitsundays are only some of the stunning places I got to visit during the year. And I can only strenghten the argument that Melbourne itself is definetely one of the worlds most liveable cities. Read on to find out why.......
