Canada World Youth
In and around World
Hey there!
So this is not only my journey but that of 8 other Canadians from Saint John to Kamloops, and 9 Sri Lankans from many different districts. THis trip is a "golden opportunity" as many of the Sri Lankans call it to travel, learn new languages and new cultures and gain tons of different experiances. We are on this program with the organization Canada World Youth which provides an amazing cross cultural learning opportunity. My program started September 10th, 2006 with a flight from Toronto to Winnepeg. There were 7 participants on our flight (2 from my group and 5 from the group workind in Brandon). Once arriving after waiting in the airport for 5 hours we went to Camp Woodlands which is about 45 minutes from Winnipeg. We trained there as the two Canadian groups till the Wednesday when the 2 groups of Sri Lankans joined us with which we stayed untill the 18th. After which we headed off to Neepawa, Manitoba and the other group to Brandon, Manitoba. In Neepawa I am living with a host family on a farm with my Sri Lankan Counterpart, Anusha. In about 3 months (before the winter gets too terrible) we will be heading off the Matara district in Sri Lanka.
