Adventures in Sapporo

In and around Japan

With the Honshu trip now officially over, I have began my life over again. This online journal will chronicle what adventures I may have over the next year- what will they be? This is hard to say. What I can say is that while I am enjoying my time here I cant help but wonder where I will be 5 minutes, 3 hours, two weeks or 6 months from now.

My first post (to be written tommorrow, September 17th, 2007- incidentily a national holiday here in Japan- respect for the Aged) will introduce my host family, house, neighborhood et cetera.

Hi Jay, Our trip to Williamsburg, VA was relaxing and very enjoyable. The most impressive event we attended in historic Williamsburg was at the Kimbel Center where Dean Shostak combined music, history, art, and science in his performance of his Crystal Concert which showcased classical and traditional music from around the world on the GLASS ARMONICA (this instrument was invented by Benjamin Franklin), JAPANESE GLASS VIOLIN, GLASS ENGLISH HANDBELLS, FRENCH CRISTAL BASCHET AND THE 1823 AMERICAN GLASS GRAND HARMONICON (The Musician shared with the audience that he bought this at a auction for $1,000.00. He was certain he made such a extroadinary buy because no one at the auction knew what it was so were unaware its true value). He used only his fingers dipped in water to make the musical tones. It was an impressive performance. We miss you very much but at the same time we are happy that you are getting an exciting and broadening experience. Pop Pop especially wants to know how you are adapting to the new school routine. Love you dearly. Mom Mom & Pop Pop T.
