Norway 2007
In and around Norway
My Mom, sister Deb and I have long wanted to travel to Norway. Our ancestors immigrated from Norway in the last century. We decided to go on a tour to make things a bit easier on all of us. We wanted to learn about the country as we moved from site to site and thought that a tour would provide this. We wanted to visit Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. It was a bit difficult to find a tour which combined all of these cities, but Deb found one on Brekke Tours. We found an agreeable time for all of us - mid to late June. We signed on and were on our way!
I left Baltimore on June 16 on a 5:25AM flight to Des Moines, arriving at 9AM. Mom picked me up at the airport and we drove to Ames. We stopped at Best Buy to pick up another memory stick for my camera, picked up her luggage and we were on our way at about 11:30. We drove to Minneapolis to meet up with Deb. We will stay at a LaQuinta hotel on Saturday night. We will have a hot breakfast there on Sunday morning, they will take us to the airport and we can leave our car there for the 10 days for free! Deb found this great deal on the internet. We arrived around 3:00 at the hotel. Deb had arrived there a few minutes before us and had gotten the key. After a little down time, we drove over to the Mall of America to check it out. Deb had been there before but neither Mom nor I had. We walked around and had dinner at Ruby Tuesday. We headed back to the hotel after dinner and went to bed in anticipation of the day ahead.
