Three Perfect Days in Rome
DAY ONE Land in the morning off of an over night flight from the U.S. Focus on getting out there, stretching the legs and seeing some of what Rome has to offer. Make sure you grab a quick bite to eat before you embark on some power walking. Stay at the Hotel de Russie. It's expensive, but fantastic. The service is excellent. The rooms are great. And it's a place to see and be seen. How often do you get a hotel room next to Bruce Springsteen or Harrison Ford?
After grabbing a quick bite to eat we start walking. In Rome, I do a lot of walking! Make a quick stop at the top of the Spanish Steps (nice view, but not stunning). Walk down Via Condotti and make a note of where I want to go shopping later on. Then head down the Via Corso and take a right at the Piazza Colonna where the Column of Marcus Aurelius still stands. We make our way to the Pantheon. Ah, the building is breath-taking. Imposing on the outside, but stunning on the inside. This has got to be one of favorite buildings in the world. We continue the after with a walk through the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. In a matter of three hours and five miles we have covered most of the well known highlights of Ancient Rome. But there is so much more to Rome!
