A long a waited vacation after the hectic and stressful period moving from Seattle to Chicago. It was another of those trips that suddenly fell into place. Ekta's mom decided to pay us a visit. Both Ekta and I had a weekend free and to top it all Rohan and Amolika's plans changed and they were thinking Puerto RIco as well.
The trip was planned literally over the weekend, flights hotels et al. And after that we hardly had time to even do much research. Amolika did some, and we came up with a wish list just days before the departure. All planned and excited about something that had the possibility of a last minute twist. We were traveling to the Carribean in the middle of Hurricane season. On the day we flew out, Gustav was just west of PR and Ike was just east. Fortunately, the only impact we saw was a bit of rain and a rough plane ride back.

The trip itself was awesome, the island is so different from the rest of US and the fact that our focus remained on food, made the trip more memorable. We tried a lot of different stuff, local food, spanish fare, even Indian. We kept the schedule light and enjoyed to the maximum. A beautiful resort and mostly good weather helped.
