Helvetian Orogeny orgasmic trip to the Alps

In and around Switzerland

Rocks, rocks and more rocks. I knew I was a little nutty about precious stones but rocks brings in so much of my love with mother earth and her struggles that now I think I may like just plain  sedimentary or metamorphic rock just a bit better.

Our little group of eleven fellow travelers was a trip! I am leaving them in two days and feel a little sad. They will continue on to France and I will travel to Zurich  to meet my boy and figure  'stuff' out  ;-)

Let me talk a bit more of why I came on this trip. My learning contract  ad three objectives

1. To help a Plan a trip to The Himalayas  for a  documentary for Channel  I ( a bangladesh television network)  and Kidzvision to try to explain from the Himalayan orogeny why the intense climate is problematic for Bangladesh. The team will be of multidisciplinary composition.

2. To understand small group dynamics under pressure in a foreign country

3. To facilitate and help group creative processes. Even scientist enjoy the break from constant converging. I found out today (5.17.08) how absolutely important suspending judgment was for this geology team.

4. Experiential Immersion in understanding earth from the perspective of geology
