I thought I would let you know about some of the things that have been happening at school and outside of school Since coming to Malaysia, I've taken part in a Malay-dian Thanksgiving, the prom, talent night, a gala, halloween, etc.  I've been busy...

Thanksgiving: a few of us decided to pay tribute to this great Canadian holiday by cooking up a meal of pumpkin soup, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, salad and bbq'd chicken (our ovens aren't big enough to cook a turkey, but the chicken was excellent!) We ate quite a bit of food and all left with that nice "sleepy-i-ate-too-much" feeling that is so reminisent of Thanksgivings back home.

Talent Night: Every semester the students and teachers take part in talent night. Lots of students attended the event and all the money went to charity. Students performed songs, musical intruments, played the piano, etc. The teachers also put a skit together (the CIMP Olympics) and all represented different countries in different sports to get ready for the Bejing Olympics in Aug. 2008. I was an Indonesian Speed Walker competing against Laura and Tim Murphy. Other funny acts included the syncronized swim and the rhythmic gymnastic competition.

Halloween: Chris Q, Marc-Andre (2 teachers from CIMP) and Michelle decided to have a halloween party for everyone at their place. It was a pretty good showing and everyone had grrrrrrrrreat outfits! I was particularly proud of my homemade supergirl (woman?)costume!

Prom: My roommate Laura was in charge of helping to organize the prom. This was quite the task but it was a hit. The location was great and the food was really good (kudos to Laura for organizing a menu that didn't have too much seafood!) The funniest thing was that there were so many male students there - they really outnumbered the girls... so different compared to back home!

Sunway Gala: To add to the many events taking place in November, there was also a Gala to celebrate Sunway University College's 20th anniversary. We all got dressed up and went to a nice hotel for a 7-course meal. Everyone ate a lot except for Laura and I as almost every dish had seafood:( After we left though we hit up the Borneo Restuarant for some pizza:) YUM!

A few days ago I also had my first Canadian visitor. It was Dave Munroe from Waterloo - we first worked at McDonald's together, then went to highschool together, then he once again followed me to WLU for Kin (ha ha, jk). He is making his way through Asia with his friend Mijia. They stayed with us for a few days - it was great to see someone from home. When are the rest of you coming??? ha ha
