One Week Escape to Bali
In and around Indonesia
Jule's and my original idea for the Easter semester break 2006 was to visit a another must see destination within Australia. We planned to do a fly-drive tour from Perth to Exmouth in Western Australia. Unfortunately all different possibilities had been booked out already and a cyclone was just heading for the coast of Exmouth. Flexible as we were we had to adjust our itinerary just a little and came up with the destination with the highest Australian international arrivals: Bali. We expected Bali to be overcrowded and very touristy before arriving. But after having travelled parts of the eastern, northern and southern coastal stretches as well as several inland routes, our impression has changed significantly. Once you leave the tourism developments of Southern Bali and Ubud you can still find remote, beautiful villages, temples and stunning landscapes.
