A summer break in Paris
In and around Europe
I went to Paris for 5 nights with two main aims : a visit to Chateau de Versailles which has been refurbished since I was last there over 20 years ago, and to visit the annual Ceramics Fair at Place St Sulpice in Paris. in addition to this visits, I managed to see three museums and watch two parades.
I am a great believer in synchroncity (Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally inexplicable to the person or persons experiencing them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity)
and there was an example of this with respect to masks. I became very keen on masks after a visit to a museum in Zacatecas, Mexico), so when I saw an item about an exhibition of Chinese masks at Jacquemart Andre Museum, I decided to see it.
Later that day (and quite by chance) I was watching a parade in which a group wearing masks were one of the most delightful of the many groups in the procession.
