We had been craving for a relaxing vacation for a few months, every one we had been to had ended up being a mix of red- eye flights, long drives and struggling to see as much as possible in short times. So we decided to change things and got for a week long cruise. A vacation where we had to do nothing once the bookings were made, just sit back and let the things flow.

Six days and seven nights of total relaxation, great food, awesome natural beauty and excellent entertainment. We traveled to 3 towns in Alaska, 1 in Canada and our 5-star accomodation moved with us. It took a while to beleive that the cruise ship could be as big as it was, 11 stories of decks and probably longer han a soccer field. It had some 6 bars, a couple of dinig areas, 2 lounges, a casino, 2 swimming pools among other things. I guess these things wont excite regular cruisers, but for first timers like us, this was fantastic.

The vacation was a fantastic mix of opposites, spending the day whitewater rafting in freezing waters followed by an excuisite six-course dinner. A day 4-wheeling in the mountains of Canada and an evening gambling away in the casino. We did everything, from touristy city tours to relaxing in the rooftop hot tubs. We watched 2 broadway shows a comedy show and were on stage for another. On days woke up late with breakfast in bed while watching soccer and on days woke up at 6 to go on an ATV tour. Ate the simplest of means with Dal Chawal (Rice with Lentils) and also devoured on Lobster tails, King shrimp and freshly caught Halibut. We posed for pictures to professional photographers and attended art auctions. We sipped expensive wine at formal multi-course black tie dinners and slipped on jeans and collected freebies from gemstone shops.

Before we started I had wondered what a restless spirit like me would do bound inside a ship. But once we got into the cruise mode I soon realized that the ship was big enough that we never saw some parts of it and that there were so many activities that at any point we had to think what to do.
