Cuneo Horse Campground
In and around North America
In the back country of the Humboldt Redwoods in Northern CA, in an old orchard, there sits quietly, Cuneo Horse Campground.
From the Ave. of the Giants, there is a road going toward Honeydew, which is only 8 miles long, to the campground. Most of the road is 1 lane, with the Giant Redwoods on one side and cliffs on the other! Blind corners, pot holes, which we made the 8 mile trip in about 45 minutes.
You are about 40 plus miles away from a market and gas.
But what a gem! There is another campground, Albee that will hold small RV's and tents, almost 2 miles before you get to the Cuneo Horse Campground.
Don't look for hookups, but there are warm showers and flush bathrooms.
Both campgrounds have old orchards sprinkled through the area. Best animals and bird watching areas! From Bears, Blacktail Deer, 3 different types of squirrels (ground, tree and flying), snakes, so many different types of birds. The lists of insects, birds and animals goes on and on.
They skies are also so clear, with the moon and stars, seeming to be within reach!
A must to visit in Northern CA.
