First week of school
In and around Germany
Our first week of school comes to an end tomorrow and thank goodness! It wasn't a bad week...just absolutely exhausting! The first couple days went smoothly, and at the end of third, we had our orientation meeting with Mrs. Moore. We got all the goods and rules for student teaching. Let's just say we will all be doing very well if we can keep up with all the work in addition to writing lesson plans!
I was originally going to have two Algebra Lab courses (supplement to Algebra), two Algebra II courses, and one Geometry course. However, with scheduling difficulties regarding the availability of my two teachers, Mr. Kelly (kellysclass.com) and Mr. Bean (beansclass.com), we had to come up with a new schedule. If it gets approved by all my superiors, it looks like I will be teaching two PreCalculus courses, two Algebra II classes, and Geometry. That will be a very heavy load, but I think it will be good for me. We shall see.
Getting around this week has been quite the chore and headache. We catch a shuttle at 6:57 a.m. toward the high school, and the only shuttle that leaves base is at 5:30 p.m., which takes almost an HOUR to get home. The waste of time is unreal and going to be a huge burden when we start having to actually write lesson plans. We aren't going to get a van from the military, but the man in charge of that is giving everyone different reasons why. So the earliest we can get home any night is 6:30 p.m, then comes dinner, and then we barely have enough time to breathe before it's time for bed.
All in all, all the teachers are really looking forward to getting more active in the classroom and taking charge and control.
We're going somewhere this weekend. We're still working on that...
Until then...
