a week in Freeport, Bahamas

In and around Freeport, The Bahamas

Hurricane season may not sound like the best time to visit the Caribbean, but if you can deal with keeping an eye to the sky, it has a lot of benefits.   We had a great time.  The best thing is that the beaches, the shops and the restaurants are all empty.  We drove up to numerous beaches all over the island where we were the only people in sight.  It was great!!  We did have a couple of days where it rained all day, but it seemed that different parts of the island had different weather.  When it started to rain we would look up, get in the car and head for the sunshine.  One overnight there were torrential rains and wind and we even lost power for a while, but we were sleeping anyway.
