Rural France can seem bizarre to the point of frustration from the outside - shops that are never open, restaurants that seem closed but are actually buzzing with life, the total unwillingness and seeming inability by anyone to get anything done.

The solution is, of course, to become French yourself - pull up a chair, pour yourself some wine, and rip up your 'to do' list. After all, you are on holiday.
