Where, oh where, has the good weather gone?

In and around Greece

So for the most part the weather that we had in Athens was fantastic! The day that we did our walk around the Acropolis was scorching. I got burnt and the other girls got nice tans as well. For the days that we were strolling down the crowded streets and made our Greek purchases (Falynn a shirt, Nicole a dress and Keely a ring) the weather was sunny and beautiful. But now that we are in Crete, where all we want to do is to lie on the beaches and work on our tans, the weather turns cloudy and cold. Why does it seem that everytime we get away from the large cities and into smaller centers the weather turns foul?? Are the Greek gods of old against us? But really it's not that bad.

We stayed in Athens for 4 days and we really didn't do all that much which is nice. Our halfway point through the trip and we are taking it easy. We went to the Acropolis and the Pantheon as I mentioned above and they were interesting to see. The scaffoling again, slightly ruined the experience as it has on other historical buildings. But just seeing the imense size of it and it being built thousands of years ago was a cool thing to think about. Athens also has these street vendors that sell baking and they were my favorite thing about Athens. We stopped there pretty much everyday to get some sort of tasty nibble. The other days in Athens we kind of just walked around. We were there on Easter Sunday, when othing was open and there also wasn't anything open on the Monday either so we truely only had about 2 days. Falynn and I stopped in to see the BJM Easter Tour Group, but we didn't stay and talk to them for very long being as it was really awkward and we didn't want to walk home in the dark to our skeezy area hostel too late. We lost our way and walked by prostitutes as it was though. Interesting experience.

We are in Crete now for 3 nights and then we take the ferry again over to the Island of Santorini of 4 nights. Hopefully I'll be able to access the computer there but I might be too busy lying in the black sand beaches in the scorching heat. Fingers crossed.

Hey!! Man your trip seems to be getting better and better!!The only thing you have missed in Saskatoon is snow one day to summer delight the next (its +17 right now .. not that i can go outside since i am studying :(!! ). Oh also the old women's soccer team forfeited the semi final soccer game to us so we are in the city finals 2morrow night! crazy i know .. o well it was the only time we were able to beat them this year! I'm really disappointed to hear about the lack of hottness for guys in Europe, so much so I think i might not look there anymore for my future husband .. i guess an aussie will have to do! Well keep on having a blast and remember to eat and shop lots! Toodles Casey PS: I keep running into your sister at the bar which is quite entertaining!
