On the route of the Aztec and the Maya in Mexico and Guatemala
In and around Montreal, Canada
February 2005. I'm in Oaxaca, Mexico, studying Spanish. In additon of being a marvellous colonial town, Oaxaca is also the place where one finds Monte Alban, an impressive Zapotec archeological site. The visit of Monte Alban was for me a great discovery and ignited the desire to know more about these civilisatons who once lived in a region covering from Mexico to Central and South America. My interest grew even more when I read some books on the Aztec, the Maya and the Inca. So, today, 4 years after my visit to Oaxaca, I will be returning to Chiapas in the Southern part of Mexico, and to Guatemala to see some Maya archeological sites such as Palenque and Tikal. Being a bit adventurous by nature, I will take the opportunity to visit some remote villages, climb a volcano and end my trip by resting my not so young body in the small fishing village of Puerto Angel on the Pacific coast before returning to Montreal.
So, if you're interested in being part of my journey, I invite you to view my blog. I'm not a blogger and this will be my first experience. So, bare with me if it's not always done like a pro. I invite particularly all those who are approaching their 70"s to follow me. May be you will also get this cool idea that YES WE CAN!
