Laos - a close up and personal view
In and around Laos
How lucky was I? Invited to join friends for a family reunion in Laos. My neighbour, Chanla, who had fled Laos years ago, was now returning with her partner Jim, one of her sisters, three of their children and several grandchildren for a reunion with those members of the family who had remained in Laos. I was to become part of the family and get to know life at the grass roots level rather than just visiting Laos as a tourist. This was one of those special experiences in life - certainly one not to be missed!
