Kavi and I went up to Beaver Creek - which is the ski resort across the street from us. It is a quaint faux Bavarian village. I couldn't find the desired trailhead so Kavs and I just hiked around for three hours or so - we probably only did 4 miles. This is the first hike where wildlife was spotted- we saw a huge doe about 7 feet in front of us and we also saw a little mammal- I have been told it is a marmot- which makes me happy because that is what I thought it was! Part of the hike took us through an aspen grove. Aspen groves are the largest living organism in the world because each grove grows from a single root system, then as the trees grow they establish their own root systems. So when you are near aspens, look around at them all and know that they are one massive being.
