“It was quirky as it was cool!” |
What a cracking stroke of luck, we got in contact with Andy, one of our friends/neighbours from the UK. Who had also been travelling NZ and was due to leave had a campervan for sale! It all sounded good and we had a deal. Andy travelled up from the South Island in the van and arrived in Auckland. We looked round the van ‘Jim Blue’ a massive 1985 Toyota Hiace Jumbo! It was quirky as it was cool!
We took it for a spin and I managed to work out the old column shift gear stick, which seemed very alien and a little scary but confident that I can drive anything with wheels I did fine. It was a done deal and by the next day we were the proud owners of a campervan!
