- Checked out of our hostel and then just killed time around the adventurer cafe. I showed Karla the rabbit shearing place and she loved it as she is a big fan of rabbits.
- Caught the bus back to Auckland at 12:30 and had lunch at The Big Apple. It had a giant sized apple, similar to the one on the 401 in Ontario (though the NZ version was not quite as big)
- Stopped in Otorohanga and picked up Melissa and Oli. Spent the 3 hour bus ride hanging out with the four of us
- Back in Auckland, we split up to check into our hotels/hostel and then met back at the Sky Tower to have a quick dinner before Karla had to catch an airport shuttle to catch her 8 pm flight. We decided on a Turkish/Middle Eastern place and everyone really enjoyed their food (kebabs for most, chicken for me). It was BYO, so we were able to have one of the bottles of wine that I had I had been lugging around since duty free at the airport. After the meal, we took some quick photos and then said goodbye to Karla. I'll be meeting up with her on the 17th (after my NZ tour), so it was more of a see you soon for me.
- Oli, Melissa and I spent the rest of the night playing pool, having a few beer (Guiness for Oli, not-Guiness for me). It was fun hanging out with my new-found friends and we promised to meet up again once I got to Sydney. I'll be there from the 5th to 10th of January, so I'll get the chance to meet up again and maybe a chance to ride at the front of one of the Syndey trains, since Melissa (and her father) work on them. At about midnight, we called in a night and I headed back to my hostel. It turns out that tow of the guys who were in the room on my first trip to Auckland (John and Archie) were still there. I talked a little with John (turned out he got the chef job that he had an interview for earlier in the day) and then headed to bed.
