22.00 – A long day today but very interesting. After waking up I just hung around in the hostel for a while to pass the time. I didn’t want to go to the museum until after dinner. After a fairly long walk, I got there. I can safely say the walk was well worth it as the museum was excellent. There were three floors; the first about the history of New Zealand and the Polynesians. It was very similar to the Maritime Museum except there were a lot more artifacts. The second floor was all about New Zealand natural history, again with good artifacts and well created displays. The third and last floor was about New Zealand’s involvement in it’s many wars. This was the best floor and the most interesting. The building and surrounding areas were great. It is a park so it was very peaceful and pleasant. I got an ice cream and then went back to the hostel for dinner of tuna sandwiches. After this light meal I went down to the restaurants and bars on the harbour where I went yesterday to pick out the ones in particular where I would like to work. I went to a couple of these today to ask about vacancies. Although I didn’t get offered a job but I think some of them were quite promising. I had only been to a couple as well but I will need to print off my CV before trying anywhere else. This evening has been a bit boring, I finished off my book (I had about half left when I started!) which took up most of my evening. I need to make some friends but the hostel here is not very social and seems to be more for older people like in Hawaii. I will probably move out on Wednesday. I don’t know what I am going to do tomorrow.
