Photo “Stopped at Urquart Castle but No Nessie in Sight”

With Denise sleeping in the passenger seat we drove from Skye to Loch Ness - which is huge (really wide and long - no wonder the Monster is always eluding capture!) and stopped at Urquart Castle - the site from which most loch cruises depart in search of Nessie.  Objecting yet again to the entry fee we sat on the lochside and ate lunch, keeping a weather eye open for tell-tale ripples - sadly Nessie did not surface and so we drove on to Glen Affric - also reputed to be one of the most scenic in Scotland - but we were quite disappointed after the wonders of Glen Coe and Skye - so we didn't stay long - it was mainly a quite scraggly indigenous forest but we didn`t have the time to hike deep into the woods to see if it got any better.

Back on the road we drove through Inverness and got close to the airport finding a very rural B&B in Ardesier, off the main road for the night.  It was quite spooky (or so Denise thought when we found the stuffed animals in the entrance hall) but also quite comfortable.
