Well after a fantastic sleep (the beds don't get any better than at the
Sheraton) we went out to pick up a few ski supplies at REI and then
Peter Glenn Ski Shop.
It was VERY hard to maintain control of my credit card, oooohhh there
was some seriously tempting consumer items that i was drooling
over.
I did quite well with a fabulous new ski jacket, after noticing when i
got into my ski gear this morning that i was completely decked out in
various shades of blue. How this happened after several years of
singular item accumulation that everything i was wearing was a shade of blue is a
complete mystery to me, particularly when blue is not really a
favourite colour of mine.
SO, my jacket is a very fetching light pink and grey. You can suitably admire me in the attached photos.
After walking out burdened with our new purchases and loaded up the 4WD we
headed out to Alyeska to get the boarding legs back so to speak.
The drive out takes around 40 minutes or so along the spectacular
turnagain arm area and hugs the shoreline of Beluga Bay (??? i think
this is what it is called...).
Managed a few laps of the mountain and was extremely disappointed with
my
boots, very serious 'issues' and was basically bitching and moaning for
the next 3 hours. Also found the new board a little more
challenging but was not sure if this was related to the agony from my
feet and shins. It was a very hard pack and essentially
stick to groomers
only. The wind and clouds came in over the afternoon and we ended
a little earlier than normal around 4.30pm. I was extremely happy
to have my boots removed and drove back to Anchorage.
I have determined to try out a little more retail therapy and see if
any of the boots at the shop seem any better before heading out to
Alyeska again tomorrow.
Well after a relaxing bath we headed out to the best place to eat in
town, Humpy's. Had a delightful Portland Oregon Honey Ale to wash
down with my Grilled Atlantic Salmon, YUM AGAIN!
Now very tired and still a little jet lagged and very much looking
forward to going back to the best bed i know.
