Airlie Beach & the Whitsundays

First impression of Airlie Beach was that it is very touristy, still a pleasant place to be in though.  Stayed at a hostel called Backpackers by the Bay, where I met lots of friendly people, including girls called Jessica and Sam, both of whom are older than me - as opposed to all these much younger backpackers I keep mixing with!

Jessica and I joined a group of 11 others on Sunday to do a two day, two night sailing trip around the Whitsundays.  Unfortunately the sky clouded over as soon as we left Airlie Beach and it rained when we were on Whitehaven Beach, but we still managed to do some snorkelling and a good time was had by all.  From Tuesday to Saturday I somehow managed to spend a lot of time doing not a lot, such is the dreadful life of being a backpacker.
