On Sunday and Monday we made pilgrimages to various relatives' cottages in Afjord...first to Elsa and Harald Pettersvik for dinner Sunday evening, via Ole's helicopter (now THAT"S riding in style!).  We were greeted with a toast of homemade herb liquor (homemade red currant juice for the boys), followed by a dinner of sei slow baked in butter, sei fish cakes, potatoes from their field, and red currants with cream (with "proper"dessert following).

Monday we visited Elna and Magnar, and Elna's brothers Eugen, Asbjorn, and Odd joined us.  The boys learned how to fish for crabs from the dock using just a string, clothespin, and mussel.  Then we went back to Ole's and all 16 or so of us boarded the party boat for a trip to Halten...the last island in the North Sea until you get to Greenland.  On his 52-footer it took us about an hour and a half to get there, not counting the time it took to stop and pick up some relatives whose boat was stranded at sea.  We took a tour of the island and then had a lunch of boiled cod (that the boys had caught a couple of days before), potatoes from Elsa's farm, and waffles with homemade strawberry jam that Elna brought along.

Upon returning to Afjord, we went to another party at Terje's for crab that he caught earlier (about 60 in all), and fresh cod fried in batter.
