Legend has it that when Lord Krishna was a child, he used to steal curd with the help of his cronies by climbing on their back. This is celebrated on his birth anniversary, by organizing mock scenes on the 23rd day of the Hindu month of Bhadrapad, when the 'curd thieves' have to vie for the curd hung in a pot 2-3 floors high. It is a fascinating sight to see human pyramids fall or succeed in replaying this ancient story.
