As part of an entertainment complex that includes the Bournemouth International Centre, the Pier Theatre and the Winter Gardens, the Pavilion Theatre attracts its fair share of renowned touring companies and big-name acts. It is usually used as a comedy and smaller concert venue and its compact seating and overhanging balconies provide plenty of atmosphere on performance nights, especially when comedians like Steve Coogan and Ben Elton visit the town. The theatre is an older style venue, built in the early part of the 20th century. There is a licensed bar, which opens before performances and during intervals, and a lobby area selling merchandise and refreshments.
