More information on Doheny Mansion and Chester Place
Of 13 large estates built at the turn of the century, Doheny Mansion and Chester Place is one of the grandest. Built on a block-size park, this large European-style chateau was owned by oil baron Edward Doheny. Now owned by Mount St. Mary's College and used for faculty residences, the mansion has survived well over the years with few alterations. The interior is not open to the public but the exterior of the house and the surrounding estates provide a fine walk along Adams Boulevard.
