More information on Statue Of Liberty
Carrying her famous torch, the Statue of Liberty, also known as "Liberty Enlightening the World," is one of the most famous sites in New York City. Lady Liberty was given as a gift in 1886 from the people of France as a symbol of freedom and democracy, welcoming all who journey to the United States. Travel by ferry to the 12 acre island where the Statue is located and you will experience great views of New York City while seeing one of the most historical sites in the United States. Light shows and viewing decks have recently been added to enhance the experience. Entrance admission into the Statue of Liberty is free, although there is a fee for the ferry. Allow time for the ferry and the wait to get onto the island. The Statue of Liberty is open daily except for December 25.
