For an overview of the lifestyles of very early Japanese, this is the place to visit. The distinctive huts with their thatched roofs are located in a large open area in suburban Yokohama. In the small, interesting archaeological museum are excavated prehistoric artifacts from the site which include farming tools, fishing implements, pottery and various other ethnographic material cleverly displayed. The museum is frequently visited by groups of school children. Admission is free.
