More information on Parking in Budapest
Parking in downtown Budapest is better avoided but if you must do it then here are some guidelines: Parking is allowed only in marked places. If you park somewhere illegally there is a good chance you will return and find your vehicle has vanished (it will have been removed by a crane-like tow-truck). Should this happen to you call the police on 107. In many areas there are parking meters. They accept 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 ft coins, and the maximum parking time at a meter is three hours. Failure to procure a ticket or overstaying your time often results in the dreaded wheel clamp. In other areas there are parking attendants on the street who will issue you a ticket and collect the correct amount when you depart. There are also several multi-storey car parks dotted around the centre of town: Aranykez utca 4-6 district V, Szervita ter 8 district V, Kosciuszko Tade utca district I. In the very likely event that you cannot find a parking place, the major hotels alm ost always have free spaces. They will charge you around 500 ft per hour.
