Since 1999 when Sophia Loren helped christen the first motorized gondola, visitors to Las Vegas have been gliding down the Venetian Hotel's Grand Canal in faithful Venetian style, enjoying the romance of the imagination. The hotel's second floor hosts the Grand Canal, which weaves alongside the 80 international boutiques that comprise the Grand Canal Shoppes. Each gondola is modeled after authentic Venetian gondolas, and seats up to four adults. Take a ride with your friends, or pay extra for a private trip along the quarter-mile canal. Outdoor gondola rides are also great fun. With the sun shining overhead and the water sparkling below, riders enjoy floating along an emerald lagoon while their Gondolier serenades them.
