More information on Tinkers Parade
The Tinkers Parade takes place the first Saturday of February and is a prelude to the town's carnival. It celebrates the arrival of the Hungarian tinkers, and is lead by a bear, representing the animals from Basque carnival mythology. The parade is made up of an assortment of troups displaying unique costumes and beating hammers against pots. There are also dances by Roma and Sinti women, and comic relief in the form of a "queen," who is actually a man; fun insights into the culture of this region are the trademarks of the parade.
