During the gourmet coffee boom in 1998, two coffee retailers (Starbucks and IS Coffee) began seizing up local prime retail property, causing rental values to increase. Clearly a boon for some landlords, coffee drinkers can fully appreciate this proliferation. Now, branches of the quaint IS Coffee chain are found throughout the city. IS has become a place to come in for a fine cup of joe and a light meal--sandwiches and pastries are on offer.
