More information on Pasig River
It was along the banks of the Pasig River that the first human settlements from which Manila evolved were established. Native people of Manila are, in fact, called Tagalog, which literally means, 'people of the river.' For decades the Pasig River was neglected and used as a dumping site for garbage and industrial waste, but thanks to recent cleaning and rehabilitation efforts it is now possible to take a cruise down this historic river.
