More information on Mikolajska Street (Ulica Mikolajska)
Mikolajska Street leads from the Market Square towards thenEast, to what used to be St. Nicholas' Gate (the remains of the gate still guard the entrance from the Planty Gardens). In the Middle Ages the street was in fact part of the important trade rout to Kiev in Ukraine. In 1924 Mikolajska Street became the most modern street in Krakow, the first skyscraper (Six stories high!) was built here.
