More information on Day of the Dead/Day of the Saints
No, this isn't Mexico's Halloween. This celebration has a very different purpose: it honors the lives of those who are dead. Look for monuments in the town square that commemorate the "angels" or children who died. Throughout the city, many other small monuments created with photographs and candles honor and remember loved ones. The parades are filled with people wearing skeleton costumes and tossing out sugar candy "skulls" to parade viewers. Join the festivities and merrymaking and learn about the local people and their traditional customs.
