More information on Sumiyoshi Shrine

Originally built in 1634, this shrine honors the god of the sea, who is also the patron deity of easy births and good business (the relationship is unclear). On the 10th of October of every year, there is a large shrine festival that is rather lively and well worth the trip if you are in the city at the time. The shrine itself is an attractive, quiet place to find some repose, or possibly answers to your prayers.
