A homely pub in the English tradition where the pub lunch crowd and the after work drinkers often collide on their way in or out. It had big shoes to fill, since the bar was previously part of a big chain that went broke, but it came out on top. The seating is arranged to let in as many as possible but the problem is alleviated by the fairly long bar counter. Most nights it does not pose a problem since the place covers a fairly large area. As a matter of fact, it is one of the largest bars in the area and attracts a crowd of twenty-somethings to forty-somethings, making it an attractive option for those wary of students, situated as it is, in the student heartland. Most local sport events as well as important international clashes will be shown on the numerous TV sets. Live music can be heard on some nights of the week, otherwise the venue sticks to middle of the road stuff and other easy listening. The bar is fully licensed and there's beer on tap to your heart's content. The menu ranges from light lunches to starters, entrées and desert. There's also a fair basket section for the not so hungry while steaks, fish and chips and seafood can all be had for an average price.
