Every year in February, mushers from all over the country hold a sled dog race in the piney woods that cover much of the area between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. This is a two-day event featuring more than 60 teams racing for prize money, and it is a popular part of the Flagstaff Winterfest, a series of events offering a variety of entertainment during February.
