More information on Fiestas del Primer Domingo de Mayo
The traditional festivities that take place in Santa Eulalia on the first Sunday in May are held to commemorate the day when years ago on the same day, the local people attended a mass in an old church that collapsed just after the mass had finished without injuring any of the worshippers. The festivities include two typical events: a display of flowers and plants, usually held in a centrally-located hotel, and a procession of old carts, when the locals also show off their finest jewellery. At the same time, there is also a big agricultural, motor and nautical show in the town's main avenue, next to the Town Hall. The fiestas usually take place during the first two weeks of May.
