The dramatic ranges and the wild beaches of Waitakere City, Auckland have proved rich fodder for a burgeoning arts community. Going West celebrates the great established writers of New Zealand and the Pacific, as well as fostering new and promising talent. There is a family "Storyfest" and a book market for second-hand and rare books. A steam train ride is included as one of the events of this festival and this perhaps sums up the unique, intimate, friendly and slightly wacky flavour of an event out west! Held at the Kelston Community Centre.
