More information on Københavns Universitet
The main building of the University of Copenhagen is situated at Frue Plads, close to Strøget in the heart of Copenhagen. The university was founded in 1479, located at that time on the corner of Nørregade and Studiestræde. After the Reformation, the University moved across the street into the Catholic Bishop's palace. The present main building was created by architect Peter Malling (1831-36). Nearby. there are two other buildings that are part of the University, as well as Konsistoriegården, where the administration and the Vice-Chancellor still have their offices. Today, the University of Copenhagen is spread over most of the city.
