More information on Fortezza di Santa Barbara
This was a brick fort that was created in order to help defend the city. A second fort was built beside it on the orders of Governor Diego de Mendoza in 1552 but irate members of the city knocked it down while it was still being built. Santa Barbara fort is open to the public for walks.
