More information on Old Grapes (The)
Pretty on the outside and traditional on the inside, this busy pub was once a ball bearings showroom, but is now part owned by Liz Dawn, who plays Vera Duckworth in Coronation Street. Although more popular with tourists and shoppers these days, it used to be known more as a haunt of both media types and journalists, being just down the road from both Granada Studios and the offices of the Manchester Evening News - you can even buy a copy of the evening paper from the pub. Handy for a pre-theatre drink at the Opera House, The Old Grapes also has good disabled access.
